As per the latest information, BSNL Ernakulam is currently testing the service which will be launched in a week. BSNL WiFi Mobile Data Offloading allows all BSNL customers having 2G / 3G data connection to avail high speed (up to 64Mbps) surfing wherever BSNL WiFi
service is available without paying anything extra.
Shri.G. Muraleedharan, Principal General Manager, BSNL Ernakulam said – “Mobile Data Offloading service enables BSNL customers with 2G and 3G data connection
to avail of high-speed (4.5G or upwards of 64 Mbps) surfing wherever
BSNL Wi-Fi service is available without paying anything extra. It will
be a big boost for smartphone users, as the Wi-Fi network is set for
incredible expansion.”

BSNL Wi-Fi mobile data offload services will allow BSNL mobile customers to switch over to high speed WiFi data services whenever he/she enters Wi-Fi hot spot zone. After off-loading mobile data traffic to WiFi hot spot, mobile users continue to consume their mobile data plan but for accessing internet, they start using robust and high capacity back end connectivity of WiFi hot spot.
BSNL MDO service invocation would be quite simple with user friendly activation process on smartphones, tablets with SIMs of any make compatible with Wi-Fi standards.
- BSNL customers using iPhones need to download MDO certificate and select the MDO SSID and start browsing.
- BSNL customers using Android phones may select the MDO SSID and then select EAP-SIM authentication method and start browsing.
