State run telecom major – BSNL – today announced that, all future mobile handsets released by handset manufactures will support BSNL 4G VoLTE services by default. As per the latest information, all major mobile handset manufacturers assured that, they will include binaries to support BSNL 4G VoLTE services in their future models.
At present, BSNL is providing VoLTE services with its existing 2100MHz spectrum. As part of BSNL Revival Scheme, additional 4G spectrum will be allotted to BSNL for the faster roll-out of 4G services all over India. BSNL authorities has discussed with almost all major mobile handset manufacturers and confirmed that all future mobile handsets released by them will be supporting BSNL 4G VoLTE services. It includes – Samsung, Xiaomi (Mi), One Plus, VIVO, Motoroala, OPPO, Lenovo, ASUS, Realme, Huawei, Honor, LG etc.

Samsung has informed that, all future mobile handsets will include BSNL 4G VoLTE binaries by default. They will be releasing firmware updates for the existing models so as to include support for BSNL 4G VoLTE services.
Xiaomi (Mi) has confirmed that, all mobile handset models released after Mi Mix 2 supports BSNL VoLTE. Xiaomi has also listed some of their existing models as obsolete / EOL (End Of Life) with respect to BSNL 4G VoLTE support which are – Redmi 4, Redmi Note 4, Mi Max, Mi Max Pro, Redmi 3S, Redmi Note 3, Redmi 2, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi Note 3G, Redmi Note 4G, Redmi Note 4G Prime, Mi3. It means, these models will not receive firmware updates in future from Mi to include BSNL 4G VoLTE support.
VIVO has informed that all mobile handset models released after August 2019 are supporting BSNL 4G VoLTE by default. All VIVO smartphone models launched before August 2019 are obsolete / EOL (End Of Life) with respect to BSNL 4G VoLTE support. However, they are trying their level best to find out an update to include these left out models also.
Recently launched OPPO Reno 4 Pro model supports BSNL 4G VoLTE. All new models launched after August 2020 will be supporting BSNL 4G VoLTE services by default. For existing models, new firmware updates are expected in November 2020 so as to include support for BSNL 4G VoLTE. OPPO R&D team is working on OS and firmware updates for some of the selected models which include – F11, F11 Pro, F15, Reno 3 Pro, Reno, Reno 10X Zoom, Reno 2, Reno 2z etc.
Motorola team has confirmed that Motorola devises launched from Q1 of FY 2020 support BSNL VoLTE and will continue to support in all upcoming launches.
Realme has informed that Realme 7i is a BSNL 4G VoLTE ready mobile handset recenlty launched in India. They have assured that all future models also will be supporting BSNL 4G VoLTE services by default.
Recently launched One Plus 8T supports BSNL 4G VoLTE. All future models released by One Plus would also support BSNL 4G VoLTE Services.
Gionee has informed that all their models are supporting BSNL 4G VoLTE services.
LG has informed that, all their future models will be supporting BSNL 4G VoLTE bydefault. Their existing models – LG G8X, LG G8S, LG Q60, LG G7/G7+, LG V40 – are also supporting BSNL 4G VoLTE.
ASUS team has also confirmed that all future models will be supporting BSNL 4G VoLTE services by default.
How to check your current mobile handset compatible with BSNL 4G ?
Customers can check whether their mobile handset is compatible for BSNL 4G Mobile Services through SMS.
Step 1: First, find the IMEI Number of your Mobile handset by typing *#06# in dial pad. You will get 15 digit IMEI number, If two IMEI numbers you are getting displayed, use the first one only.
Step 2: Send SMS as KYM <IMEI Number> to 14422
You must send the text message without space and brackets from your Mobile Handset with above syntax. Immediately you will get a reply to check for BSNL 4G compatibility of your mobile handset.
Step 3: If the reply contains ‘LTE FDD Band 1’ then your mobile handset is compatible to BSNL 4G services.
How to activate BSNL VoLTE Service on your number?
BSNL Mobile customers (both prepaid and postpaid) can activate the VoLTE services on their 4G enabled smartphones by texting ‘ACT VOLTE’ to 53733.

Once it is done, the services will be activated in 24 hours. After the activation of VoLTE services, customers has to set network mode in the mobile network settings in your mobile handset with the any of the following settings:-
- LTE Preferred Mode
- LTE / WCDMA / GSM Auto
- VoLTE Enabled
- BSNL to launch 4G LTE Mobile Services in Kumarakom – an enchanting backwater destination in Kerala from 30th October 2020 onwards
- BSNL 4G in Ernakulam District : 4G Ultra Fast Mobile Data services to be rolled out at 72 tower locations with effect from 30th October 2020
- BSNL 4G LTE Mobile Internet Services will be launched at 62 tower locations in Malappuram district on 1st October 2020
- BSNL to launch Ultra Fast 4G mobile internet service from 1st October 2020 at all major locations in Wayanad district
- BSNL launched 4G services in high security strategic Atal Tunnel at Rohtang to meet the strategic requirements in frontier areas
