BSNL has announced the introduction of Wi-Fi plans for Bulk user customer in association with Hot Spot Service Provider (HSSP). BSNL will be providing backhaul bandwidth to each hot spot location and the vendor (Hot Spot Service Provider) will be setting up the Wi-Fi services with necessary hardware in all these locations.
BSNL has awarded the contract to implement the Wi-Fi services to vendors like US based Quadgen Wireless Solutions Pvt Ltd. BSNL will be launching different categories of Wi-Fi hot spot services having bandwidth (download speed) ranging from 2Mbps to 10 Mbps.
Different Categories of BSNL Free WiFi hotspot Services
- Small Hotspot: Cafe, Lounge, Food court etc, – 2 Mbps (dedicated)
- Mid Size Hotspot: Malls, IT Parks, Resorts, Hospitals etc – 4 Mbps (dedicated)
- Large Hotspot: Campus, Very large mall, uncovered broadband semi urban/rural areas – 10 Mbps (dedicated)

The Service taxes shall be extra as applicable and the revenue share with HSSP (Hot Spot Service Provider) shall be shared as per agreement. BSNL will be launching the above tariff from 10-06-2015 across all telecom circles in India.
Any one with a valid mobile number would be able to access these public WiFi network of BSNL to surf high speed internet at a download speed of 10Mbps. Customers may also purchase / recharge Prepaid WiFi vouchers to access the WiFi internet. They can also recharge their WiFi accounts online.

BSNL also announced that there will be Special Postpaid WiFi tariff plans where they can enjoy WiFi broadband internet on payment of monthly fees.
