BSNL launches auto validity extension for validity expired customers in prepaid plans ₹1999 & ₹2399

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced the launch of Auto Validity extension facility for validity expired prepaid mobile customers in prepaid mobile plans 1999 & 2399. As per the latest information, the scheme was launched by BSNL on 10th January 2021.

If a prepaid mobile customer in Plan 1999 has main account balance more than or equal to Rs 1999/- on the first day of Grace Period 1, then Rs 1999/- will be deducted from the main account balance and validity will be extended automatically without any bundled Value Added Services (VAS) like BSNL Tunes, Lokdhun or EROS Now etc. If the main account balance is less than Rs 1999/- and more than Rs 2/-, then Rs 2/- will be deducted on the first day of Grace Period 1 and validity will be extended by 3 days in the same plan without any freebies.

The future of broadband internet services in India will depend heavily on content providers and OTT services. To keep up the race, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today announced the launch of add-on packs with OTT services to  BSNL's Broadband customers all over India.

As per the latest information, BSNL's DSL / FTTH / AirFibre / BBoWiFi Broadband customers can avail this newly launched OTT add-on pack with fixed monthly charge of Rs 129/-. This add-on pack will give subscription to the following apps - VOOT Select, SonyLIV Special, Zee5 Premium – All access pack,  YuppTV Live (NCF Channels), YuppTV FDFS (First Day First Show), YuppTV Movies, Support & Marketing etc.

BSNL allows 10% discount to Govt. Employees for Landline, Broadband & Bharat Fiber (FTTH) Services from 1st February 2021

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today announced that they will revise existing discount scheme to Govt. Employees for Landline, Broadband & Bharat fiber (FTTH) Services with effect from 1st February 2021. At present, BSNL allows 5% discount in monthly rental for Central or State Government or PSU employees.

BSNL's 5% discount scheme for Government employees was applicable to both serving as well as retired employees  under DSL, WiMax and FTTH Broadband services. Now BSNL authorities has decided to increase this discount to 10% for landline , broadband and Bharat Fiber (FTTH) customers. This revised discount scheme is applicable to both new as well as existing customers from 1st February 2021 onwards on PAN India basis.

BSNL today announced the revision in certain landline plans 'Super Value BSNL CUL 149' & 'General FMC 180 Rural' with immediate effect across all telecom circles.

Super Value BSNL CUL plan with monthly rental of Rs 149/- now allows Unlimited calling on BSNL network and calls of Rs. 149/- on other networks. BSNL has also decided to revise the nomenclature of 'General FMC 180 Rural' landline plan with monthly rental of Rs 199 to 'General FMC 199 Rural' plan. In addition to the change in nomenclature, the revised 'General FMC 199 Rural' plan now allows Unlimited calling on BSNL network and calls of Rs. 199/- on other networks. Earlier, General FMC 180 Rural plan was offering calls of just Rs 180/- on any network.

BSNL - India's largest wireline operator has announced the extension of applicability of newly launched promotional Bharat Fiber (BSNL FTTH) plans to all areas / cities in some of the telecom circles. As we reported earlier, BSNL initially launched promotional Bharat Fiber (FTTH) Broadband plans on BSNL's Foundation Day i.e., on 1st October 2020 only in selected cities and areas.

Later, BSNL extended these newly launched plans viz - Fiber Value, Fiber Premium & Fiber Ultra - to more areas as per the increasing demand from customers. BSNL added new cities to the list in the month of November 2020 & December 2020. Now as per the latest information, BSNL has decided to expand the list further in the month of January 2021 where customers in certain telecom circles like - Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are also allowed to opt these plans without any restrictions.

[Press Release] BSNL & MTNL turns EBITDA positive in first half of FY 2020-21

Press Information Bureau, Government of India has released press release on BSNL's & MTNL's financial performance in the first half of FY 2020-21. As per the latest press release, BSNL & MTNL turns EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) positive within 1 year of approval of revival plan by Union Cabinet. Both organizations expect to reduce their losses by 50% when compared to 2019-20.

Five years ago, under Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, BSNL's growth in income and ability to contain expenditure in salary, administrative, employee remuneration and other benefits, helped in growing EBITDA to Rs 3,855 crore in 2015-16 from Rs 672 crore in 2014-15 and now after few troubled years and a revival package BSNL is once again back on the track of profitability.

DoT to start spectrum auctions in 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz & 2500 MHz bands from 1st March 2021

DoT today issued Notice Inviting Applications (NIA) for auction of Spectrum worth Rs 3.92 lakh crore at base price in 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz and 2500 MHz bands. A single auction process will be carried out for assigning Spectrum blocks in various bands.
