Ahead of the launch of 4G, BSNL is shutting down its existing WiMAX services in Kerala, Punjab and UP (East) telecom circles

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has decided to discontinue its wireless broadband service - WiMax - in three telecom circles - Kerala, Punjab and UP(East) with effect from 31st March 2020.

Ahead of the launch of 4G, BSNL is shutting down its existing WiMAX services in Kerala, Punjab and UP (East) telecom circles

As per the latest information, all the existing BSNL WiMax customers in these telecom circles will be migrated alternate connectivity solutions like -  4G / 3G / ADSL Broadband / FTTH. New customer registration for WiMax service is already blocked in these telecom circles.

BSNL launched new prepaid mobile STVs @ ₹97 and ₹998 with Unlimited Data 2GB/Day on PAN India basis

State run telecom operator BSNL has announced the launch of two new STVs @ ₹97 and ₹998 with Unlimited Data for its prepaid mobile customers in all the telecom circles.

As per the latest information, both these STVs offer unlimited data with FUP limit of 2GB/Day. After 2GB/Day, data speed will be reduced to 80Kbps. STV 97 is actually a Combo STV, in addition to unlimited data, it also comes bundled with unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS/Day.

BSNL initially launched this promotional scheme from 1st November 2019 to 31st December 2019. BSNL launched this cashback scheme when its rival Reliance Jio started to charge its customers for outgoing calls to other networks. As per the latest information, BSNL authorities has decided to extend the same scheme for a period of two months i.e., 01-01-2020 to 29-02-2020.
