Finally, BSNL has officially announced the launch of much awaited New Unlimited Bharat Fiber (FTTH) Broadband plans - 'Fiber Basic', 'Fiber Value', 'Fiber Premium' and 'Fiber Ultra' as a promotional offer for BSNL FTTH customers all over India.

Finally, BSNL announced the launch of new unlimited Bharat Fiber (FTTH) Plans - Fiber Basic, Fiber Value, Fiber Premium and Fiber Ultra with effect from 1st October 2020

BSNL launched these new ultra fast Bharat Fiber (FTTH) broadband plans in an attempt to compete with recently announced plans by Reliance Jio. Soon after announcing Jio Fiber plans, Airtel also slashed their existing tariff plans to match with Jio Fiber plans. BSNL's new plans are available for all users in all the circles except Andaman and Nicobar.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has published latest telecom subscription data for the moth of June 2020. As per the latest report, wired broadband subscriber base is increasing at a faster pace than wireless broadband in the country.

Total number of wired broadband subscribers has increased from 19.38 millions at the end of May 2020 to 19.82 millions at the end of June 2020 with a monthly growth rate of 2.29% whereas growth rate of wireless broadband subscriber base was 2.23% only. Same trend was seen in the previous month (May 2020) also where the growth rate of wired broadband subscriber base was 1.88% as compared to 1.13% for wireless broadband subscriber base.

Exclusive : BSNL's new Bharat Fiber Plans may offer up to 4000GB FUP limit; Comparison with Jio Fiber and Airtel Fiber

As we reported on yesterday, BSNL is all set to launch new unlimited fiber broadband (BSNL FTTH / Bharat Fiber) plans with speed up to 300Mbps bundled with free OTT subscription. The PSU has decided to launch these new Bharat Fiber plans in an attempt to compete with newly announced plans by Reliance Jio and Airtel.


Now, we have got more detailed information about the newly proposed Bharat Fiber (BSNL FTTH) plans like - maximum download & upload speed and FUP usage limit, download & upload speed after crossing FUP usage limit,  details of bundled OTT packs and comparison with Jio Fiber and Airtel Fiber plans. BSNL will be launching four (4) new Bharat Fiber plans which are - 'Bharat Fiber Basic', 'Bharat Fiber Value', 'Bharat Fiber Premium' and 'Bharat Fiber Ultra' with effect from 1st October 2020 across India.

TRAI's new direction on tariff publication : Essential disclosures for tariff plans and offers to be published by telecom operators

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has issued new direction dated 18th September 2020, on tariff publication by telecom service providers in India. As per the latest information, TRAI has instructed all the telecom service providers for service area wise publication of essential disclosure of tariff plans.

Each telecom operator has to publish detailed information about all existing prepaid and postpaid tariff plans, special tariff vouchers, combo vouchers, add-on plans etc. on their customer care centers, website, mobile app and other retail outlets. Now, operators need to publish all terms and conditions of a particular tariff plan / STV / Combo Voucher so that a customer may understand all important information like volume of calls, data and SMS, rates for the same, limit of usage and speed beyond the entitled use etc.

BSNL is reconsidering the deals with Chinese companies for 5G trials - says, CMD BSNL Sri PK Purwar

Soon after raising Rs 8500 Crores through sovereign bonds, the state run telecom major BSNL has announced that they are reconsidering their earlier deals with Chinese telecom equipment manufacturers for its 5G trails in India.

In the year 2017, BSNL had signed MoU with Chinese telecom company ZTE to develop 5G ecosystem in India for BSNL. Considering the present  Indo-China issues, the PSU is rethinking its 5G strategy. BSNL CMD Sri. PK Purwar said - "We had applied for 5G. considering the changes done to General Financial Rules (GFR) provisions, we have to revisit our application and we are in the process of doing that."

The proposed areas are Kalpetta, Muttil, Kakkavayal, Munderi, Kariyambadi, Krishnagiri, Kumbaleri, Meenangadi, Chundale, Ambalavayal, SulthanBathery, Kolagappara, Moolankavu etc.
